GSES Utility Scale Solar Short Course
The GSES Utility Scale Solar online course is a comprehensive introduction for those with Grid-Connected PV experience wishing to expand their knowledge into large scale systems. The course is meant to provide an industry perspective of all aspects of a utility scale solar process from feasibility studies to commissioning to end of life considerations.
Course Content: This interactive online course provides a structured approach to understanding the step by step considerations of a utility scale PV project. Upon completions of the course, the engineers will be able to:
- Design the main steps involved in the process of establishing a solar project;
- Understand and be able to explain why the utility scale solar project might be an attractive project;
- Identify various stakeholders that may be involved in the process and their varied interests;
- Understand the technology involved in a utility scale project, such as central inverters;
- Include operation and maintenance considerations in their design
Delivery Mode: Delivery is online comprising video content, theory, and short quizzes. Tutor support is available if required.
Duration: This online course is self-paced. We estimate it may take approximately 6-8 hours to complete, however this can vary. Course access is valid for 12 months.
Assumed Knowledge: It is assumed that students have existing skills at Grid-Connected PV System design, but not necessarily at the utility scale level. They may have completed the Grid-Connected PV System Design or Install course, hold a Clean Energy Council Grid-Connect accreditation or have applicable industry experience in rooftop PV systems.
Outcome of Successful Completion: Students will receive a GSES certificate of completion stating they have completed the Utility Scale Solar course. Upon completion, CEC (Clean Energy Council) accredited designers/installers will be eligible for 30 CPD points.
Cancellations and Refunds: A full refund is available within 14 days of purchase, on the condition that the student/s have not yet logged into the student portal. Due to the online nature of the course, no refunds are possible once the course has been accessed on the student portal.
